Minute Maid Promo Week 3 and Week 4 Winners
Monday, 08 March 2010

Here are the winners of the Minute Maid promo for Week 3 and Week 4.  In week 3, we asked the readers to share their PR tips and secrets to us by answering the question ""What will you do to improve at least one MINUTE from your previous Personal Record (PR)?”.  We received very interesting tips and advice.  Some of them were even contradicting each other but I'd like to try which one will work for me.  In week four, we asked for bloggers to write about their best running experience that they considered was NATURAL.  The stories were great.  We have entries on running in far locations, a run at night and an aquathlon challenge.

Finally, after much deliberation from Minute Maid, here are the winners.

Ready for Another Sub-Piolo Challenge?
Sunday, 07 March 2010

After Piolo Pascual's debut in the running scene, many of us got more insecured with his 10K finishing time.  Previous 10K targets are sub-60, or a sub-50.  Now, anything less than 47 minutes is called sub-Piolo or a time faster than Piolo Pascual's 10K run.

Last February, we had a press con for the The Green Miles Run.   This event is a project of UST HS Batch 88 for the benefit of Piolo Pascual's Hebreo 12:1 Foundation and Save the Marilao River (MMO River System).  Piolo Pascual himself was present during the press con. He is joining the event.  Will he run a 10K or a 15K?

Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon: My 2nd Full Marathon
Saturday, 06 March 2010

While preparing for the Hong Kong Marathon, I read websites and blogs to get an overview of the race.  One of the comments that struck me is that the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon is probably the most difficult in Asia.  I should have known that before signing up to run the full marathon.

What makes it extra challenging is the weather and the elevation.  It's cooler in Hong Kong compared to the Philippines.  A few weeks before the race, Patrick aka Running Shield, texted me that it was about 10-15C.  The elevation was tricky with the bridges, overpass and underground tunnels.

Shoe Review: New Balance 1906
Saturday, 06 March 2010

It's been more than two week and about 100kms of running with the New Balance 1906.  I used them for a 21km and a 42km marathon at the Standard Chartered Hong kong Marathon.  NB1906 is named for the year New Balance started.   They packed in great features for it 103-year in the shoe industry.  It is designed as a neutral cushioning shoe that features the full-length N-ERGY cushioning material to provide a responsive ride.  The NB 1906 is designed for the mid to high mileage runner.

Here's my shoe review of the NB1906.
