Product Review: Road ID Elite
One safety tip is to bring some kind of identification whenever you run. We have to admit that the road we love to run with can be a dangerous place. You’ll never know when problems strikes. An ID can help save your life if anything happens.
This is where the Road ID comes in handy. It is a product from the US where your name, contact numbers, medical info and other information can be placed on your wrist, ankle, or as a dog tag. You can check their products here. Quennie and I have been using this ID for a year whenever we run. Their wrist ID is one of their bestsellers, this year they came up with the new design called the Road ID Elite.
The Elite ID uses a different material and now comes in 9 different colors. It is like a baller ID with a stainless steel lock. But the ID itself haven’t changed that much. It still has the 6 lines of info you can write on and with the same maximum number of characters per line. The Road ID Elite comes in one size but it can be adjusted by cutting it to the desired length.
The original Road ID design and the Road ID Elite
Quennie wore it for the first time during the Philippine International Marathon last Sunday. Here are the pros and cons of the new Road ID Elite.
Pros
- Smells good. The material doesn’t stink even after several uses. The previous Road ID absorbs the sweat from your skin. After sometime, you know that it will dry up and stink. It needs frequent washing. The Road ID Elite doesn’t absorb the sweat and keeps it smelling good.
- Secure Lock. I find the lock more secured compared to the lock Velcro strap. It is the same lock with some of the wristwatches.
- Adjustable. The Road ID Elite comes in one size. No need to guess if it fits your wrist/ankle. But be careful in cutting the strap off. I suggest you cut it little by little until you get to the length that is comfortable to you. IF you made a mistake of cutting it too much for a very tight fit, there’s no way you can loosen it.
The size of the Road ID Elite can be adjusted by cutting off the excess part.
Cons
- Heavy. The stainless steel lock is heavier. They should have used aluminum instead.
This part is heavy. It’s like wearing a wristwatch.
- Cost. The Road ID Elite costs 29.95 USD compared to 19.95 USD of the previous design. This price is expensive for the local market. If only a local version is available… Hmmm…

Summary
The Road ID Elite is a good upgrade from the previous Road ID. It’s a matter of preference on which is the better design. Having this product gives you some assurance that help will be faster should anything happen to you in the road. This can really be a lifesaver whether you run, bike or swim or just in the road driving.
I have ordered last march, emailed their CSA. She advised me that the package has lost somewhere along the way so they remake and reship again. unfortunately the package has lost for the second time and I asked for a refund.
