Product Feature: Brooks Glycerin 8

Brooks was once available in the Philippines during the 80s and I remembers using these shoes back in elementary.  And recently, Brooks got me interested with their wacky marketing campaigns like Superfans and Run Happy.  Those fun and wacky approach to running must be paying off since Runner’s World has recently given Brooks its prestigious “Editor’s Choice” award in the Spring 2010 Shoe Guide to the new Glycerin 8 with Brooks DNA.

Glycerin 8 is Brooks premium neutral running shoe. It features it’s DNA cushioning system that responds uniquely per indivudual based on weight, speed and force of impact.  Brooks Glycerin 8 is also a “green shoe”.  It features the BioMoGo, the world’s first-ever biodegradable midsole for running shoes and its laces are made from 100% recycled materials.

Brooks Glycerin 8 is now available in RUNNR outlets and selected Toby’s stores nationwide at PhP6,495.00.

The DNA Cushioning System debuts in Brooks Glycerin 8.  It’s a custom cushioning system.  Meaning it adapts its cushioning and response to any individual based on the runner’s weight, speed, and impact.  This is using a highly viscous non-Newtonian fluid that was engineered in a molecular level.  What?  I’ll let the video explain that.  Video is seen at the bottom of this article.

DNA Cushioning system debuts with Brooks Glycerin 8.

Glycerin 8 is committed to be environmentally friendly.  It features the BioMoGo and shoelaces made from 100% recycled materials.  Brooks’ BioMoGo is the world’s first fully biodegradable midsole foam for footwear.  This material decomposes 50 times faster that traditional Ethylene Vinyl Acetate™ [EVA] midsoles.

Shoelaces and soles of Brooks Glycerin 8 is more environmetally friendly.

Other features are:

•  A higher durability, abrasion-resistant rubber outsole compound that wears longer (HPR Plus).
• Midsole and outsole components are engineered to set the foot in an efficient, balanced position from heel strike to toe-off, offering maximum cushioning and flexibility.
