Running High from 0m to 300m
Last month, I was running in Iloilo. This month, I ran in Bacolod. This is the run I tried to prepare for. It’s not a race but a run I’ve have been dreaming of doing for a long time. The route is from Bacolod to Mambukal. Since I was a child, I would often go to Mambukal with our class at La Salle – Bacolod and we have vehicles to take us there. Upon knowing that the distance from Bacolod to Mambukal is about 28K (depending on the route), I wanted to try running it. Last Sunday, at 10-10-10, I fulfilled that dream.
Here’s just a quick summary of the run. We took a different route which made the run longer at 30KMs.
Distance: 30.74 KMs
Elevation Gain: 396 m
Elapsed Time: 4:05:34
This is how the route looked like. Mambukal is a mountain resort in Central Negros.
Elevation Gain was about 360 meters. The last 5 kilometers was the most difficult part.
Thanks to Nonoy and El of Iloilo for coming over to Bacolod to join me in the run. Thanks also to Coach Frank for joining us and giving me real time feedback on my running form.
Thanks to the support crew. To Papa who drove the support vehicle. To Mama who cooked the food and brought back all the calories I burned. And to Quennie who explains to Mama everytime she asks if I’m still OK, or why I would stop and walk, or why I would hold and press my hips, or why I have to stretch in the middle of the run.
More about the run on the next blog.
