A Gun Start PR Doesn’t Look Possible Here
We all love to chase our Personal Records (PRs) or Personal Bests (PBs). In races, we would determine the PR either on the gun time or the chip time. But here is a race wherein your gun start time is definitely not the best reference for your PR. It took more than half an hour for all runners to cross the starting line. Watch it below.
This was taken during the Chicago Marathon 2010 with 38,000 runners at the starting line. It took about 35 minutes for all 38,000 to cross the starting point. The video below is just a fast forward representation of the gun start so it will be fast. But just imagine the massive number of runners here.
Imagine if you were one of the last runners to leave the starting area. That means an additional 35 minutes to your gun start time. No way can you get a PR with this one.
