Where do you keep your finishers’ medals?

The medals during marathons and half marathons are one of my inspiration to keep on joining races.  I knew I wanted to run a marathon when I saw a 42K runner of the defunct Philippine International Marathon in 2007 looking at his finisher’s medal.  I was so envious.  I knew I want one.  So far, I have 3 finishers medal from marathons and a few more medals from half marathons.

After collecting so many medals, I just had a hard time organizing them in one place.  Before, I would just hang them on a hook at home or in the office.

Some runners are so creative.  Deo Javarata hang his medals on an umbrella.   Runningfatboy is contemplating to place his medals as a decor for their Christmas tree.

Recently, I found the perfect way to keep them — place them on a wall frame for medals.

Wall Frame for Medals

I bought this frame at TruValue in Park Square, Makati.  They also have frames for 4, 2 or 1 medal(s).  The frame makes the medals ready to show-off with friends and visitors.  😀  Now that I have the frame, I just need a wall where to hang it.

Here’s a closer look at my finisher’s medal collection.

They occupy the second row of the frame.  Shown here are the Cebu City Marathon 2010, Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2010, and the Quezon City International Marathon 2010.

My Favorite Medal

I just think that the Standard Chartered Singapore Half Marathon medal stands out in terms of how is is designed.  This medal also has a nice design at the back.  Too bad, this frame doesn’t allow me to show it to you without dismantling it again.

My Finishers’ Medals by Rows

The first row is composed of the New Balance Power Race 2008 (25K), Condura Run 2009 (21K), QCIM 2009 (21K) and the Rizal Day Run 2009 (32K).  The New Balance Power Race Medal was my first finisher’s medal.

The second row are for my 42K medals.  I had three so far so I included the Singapore Marathon medal too.

Marathon Medals

The third and last row is composed of the Rotarun 2009 (21K), Century Tuna SuperBods 2010 (21K), Nature Valley Run 2010 (21K), and the Corregidor International Half Marathon 2010 (21K).  I did not run the Rotarun 2009 but I was the organizer.  I placed the medal there to fill in the space.  The Corregidor Half Marathon is the biggest and the heaviest medal in my collection.

Marathon Medals

I still have other medals that I wasn’t able to place in the frame.  Some of them got a bit rusty and doesn’t look presentable anymore.

How about you?  How do you keep or show your medals?
