An Accidental 2K Barefoot Walk

My dress shoes are not made for walking.  My foot feels pain after just 10 minutes of walking with them.  Yesterday, was the worst since I have to move from one place to another for a meeting.  The day just started but I already ended up having blisters on my right foot.

During the meeting, I would secretly remove my shoe under the table to give space for my foot.  It was a temporary remedy.  After the meeting, I have to wear my shoes again.  It is getting more painful every time my shoe rubs against my skin.

When I left the building, I could no longer bear the pain.  I removed my shoes and placed it inside my bag.  I was going home and decided to walk all the way without my shoes.  I will walk barefoot.

It was a 2 kilometer walk back home.  I was not entirely barefoot since I still have my socks on.  But I can feel how close the concrete is on my foot.  It was nice.

Because of my socks, not everybody noticed I was walking barefoot.  I just walked normally and would even run just to the cross the street.  If not for my bag, I would have ran all the way home.  It would be fun.

I kept an eye on who ever would notice it.  There were a few and they would examine my feet for a long time.  They must have a hard time figuring out if I am indeed not wearing any shoe.  Once they find out, they would look at me and raise an eyebrow.

Walking barefoot for two kilometers was giving me a relief.  My blistered foot is free from the tight dress shoes and is feeling a lot better.

When I arrived home, I rested for a while.  Then I checked the damage of the shoe.  I had three blisters.  The biggest one was on the heel.  I would wonder if I can still wear running shoes.  I wore a pair and practiced running inside the house.  I was happy to know I can still run as long as the shoe is heavily padded at the heel.

Ew!

The damage from walking barefoot was the dirt.  I didn’t expect it to be there.  I thought the dirt would just be on my socks but some of them were on my soles.  And whoa, they were thick.  I had to really sit down and scrub my soles to remove them.

It was an accident that I walked barefoot for about 2 kilometers.  If not for these blisters, I would have not thought of it.  I guess I just started my training for a possible 5K Barefoot Run on September 10.
