Boston Marathon 2012 Registration will start on Monday
Registration for the Boston Marathon 2012 will start on Monday with the new registration procedure. The new registration process will allow the fastest runners who meet their qualifying times gets to register first and will later open to the next fastest runner.
This is to make sure that only the fastest runners gets to join the Boston Marathon. The new registration procedure is to avoid the problem last year where the registration slots went full in just 8 hours leaving many fast runners unable to get a slot.
The date on which qualifiers can apply for the 116th Boston Marathon depends on how your qualifying time compares to your age and gender qualifying standard.
Here’s the schedule for the registration based on the qualifying time:
September 12 (Monday) – Qualifying time is at least 20 minutes below your age group qualifying time.
September 14 (wednesday) – Qualifying time is at least 10 minutes below your age group qualifying time.
September 16 (Friday) – Qualifying time is at least 5 minutes below your age group qualifying time.
September 19 (Monday) – Qualifying time is not at least 5 minutes faster then your age group qualifying time.
If there are slots available after the two week process, registration will remain open to any qualifier on a first-come, first-served basis until the maximum field size is reached.
