Running makes Samantha happy!
Just like most of us, running gives Samantha a different kind of high! She’s been running in countless 5Ks in fun runs in the Philippines with her mom and dad. Last Sunday was her first out of the country run at the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore. She ran 5K with her father.
Samantha is a cousin for our friend Jambi’s. She is special. She has Down syndrome – a genetic condition that can affect a person’s physical and intellectual development. But this does not keep her from staying healthy. She trains and runs twice a week. Running makes her tired but happy and makes her feel good about herself.
Here’s an photo of the article about Samantha written at The Straits Times – Singapore.

Keep running Sam! And keep inspiring others more!
Hope we can meet you when we go home to Bacolod next year. And may be a 5KM run around the City of Smiles?
Go! go! Samantha!
I had the privilege of hearing Samantha speak in front of a crowd of parents with Down Syndrome. First, during the Early Intervention Program that I attended and second, during the Conference on Down Syndrome Awareness. Twice, I cried while listening to her. She could fluently speak English, Tagalog and Ilonggo. She and her mother were my inspiration in bringing up my own daughter with Down Syndrome. It’s only now that I learned that she also runs like my daughter Eia. Eia joined the MILO 5k run last Sunday.
