Skechers Go Run Running Shoe Review
I have been using the Skechers Go Run for a month now. I even brought it for a 10K Run in Boracay last weekend. It has been a great experience with it’s lightweight features and comfortable fit. Below is my Skechers Go Run shoe review.
Very Comfortable
This is the first shoe that I prefer running without socks. In fact, everytime I use it, I don’t wear socks. The material is soft and comfortable all around. I used it up to 12 km and no blisters so far.
The insole is stitched into the shoe itself. It cannot be removed. It made the shoe comfortable in the inside but can be a chore if you wash the shoes regularly.
The rocker design surprised other runners who tried the shoe. The Skechers design is thicker in the middle and feels like a bump. I used other Skechers shoe before thus this didn’t surprise me. The idea of the rocker bottom is to assist in the midfoot stike when running. This has been effective when I was using the SRR.
Flexible
Skechers is proud of how flexible the Go Run is. I can easily fold them in and out. This feature is useful for that barefoot feel everytime I run. I can feel the contour of the road or trail and my feet can easily adapt to what is on the ground.
However, this doesn’t have arch support. It may not be the best shoe for those who overpronate.
Lightweight
I am happy with how light the shoe is. The Skechers Go Run weighs only 6.9 oz for its size 9. I usually run on the heavy neutral shoes that is up to 11 oz. Compared to my other shoes, this one is like a feather. That is why I prefer using this for speed and tempo runs.
Outsoles
One thing I noticed with the outsole is that it doesn’t have a high abrasive rubber material. The outsole are soft and doesn’t look durable. I have about 150 kms on the shoe and some parts are slightly worn out. How much more if I get to use this on rough concrete rather the my usual asphalt roads.
The outsoles doesn’t have good traction too. I wouldn’t recommend them to the tough trail runs. I don’t even think these shoes are designed for trail. But they are perfect for your weekly road races.
SUMMARY
If you are looking for a good minimalist shoe, the Skechers Go Run is very much recommended. You’d love the good fit and the comfortable materials. It’s weight will also take you to your next PR.
The Skechers Go Run sells for only4,195 Php. It’s a great value for a minimalist shoe that is great on performance.
i own one too, the blue version and it really is soft and light and i used it on a 10K fun run last week, though it takes some time getting used to it because i usually run using my K-Swiss K-Ona which is a stability shoe. try this one guys, i highly recommend this.
Hi. Do you have size 13us for this model and where can buy it?
I want one too! You can crumple it parang Sanuk lol and super super lightweight parang tsinelas lang sa gaan. Only problem I heard is that it feels awkward to stand or walk on but once you start running, it feels like your feet is being propelled. I’ve been looking high and low for the orange/grey one.
