just to share our experience with this race, katulad ng marami sa inyo hindi rin dumating ang race kit namin sa bahay (we live at Q.C. only).
(take note, nagfollow pa kami sa FinishLine a week before the race, just to check, and they said na made-deliver, kaya confident kami na walang problema)
Let’s enumerate the problem of this race
-hindi na-deliver ang race kits ng karamihan
-may mga hindi na-account na registrants
-nagchange ang route during race day
-late and gun start
-naubusan ng cups as early as the 7th Km palang
I agree with most runners that it was a challenging at refreshing route kasi naiiba but you’ll be the judge kung okay ang organizer at partners ng race na ito
I agree, although my race kit arrived the day before the race, it was a little bit stressful to keep worrying if I was going to get my race kit on time or not…
One of the main reasons I signed up for this race was because of the new route which was on the map for the 21.195km posters. However, the route was changed on race day and we were forced to run the same (*shortened) route twice.
Another comment, like “kernan” stated above, the cups ran out in many of the stations, this actually forced me to drink from one of the cups left on the table and I even kept this in my shorts for the next few stations since I feared there would be no cups there as well.
All in all, I think the race was not as bad as the AXN run before (from the comments I read). I just think that I was pampered too much by races organized by RunRio. haha!
Hope the next races would not be as expensive as this, as the races are supposed to promote health and well being, not to line the organizer’s pockets with cash.
Here are my comments on this run:
THE POSITIVES:
1) nice singlet & finisher’s shirt
2) nice medal
3) marshals were very helpful as far as 21K is concerned
4) hydration was ok … enough bananas & Gatorade except at 17K mark where the station ran out of cups… as far as the taste of the Gatorade is concerned…let’s give those guys a break, they did a wonderful job…
THE NEGATIVES:
1) distribution of race kits was deplorable
2) late start for the run maybe due to inefficiency of race kit distribution
3) change of route w/o prior notice… I registered for this run mainly due to the medal & route… only to find out that the route was halved on race day…. I don’t know if it was because of the low turnout of the event that forced the organizers not to close the whole route up to Katipunan
overall: disappointing experience
will I run again for Finishline again? … unless there will be a plausible explanation from Finishline…. most probably NOT!!
This is by far the WORST “FUN-run” I enlisted myself to. I WILL NEVER join any finishline-organized (Vince Mendoza) “FUN-run” anymore…
First of, the registration was WAY too expensive for a distance (21kms) that I ran myself on other FUN-runs with same stuff I get at the finish line (for some, there were even MORE goodies/activities). Still, I tried to understand the organizers especially that they promise to deliver the singlets–surely it would take some amount to do it. However, NO DELIVERY OF SINGLETS happened as promised. Now, that’s NOT GOOD.. NOT GOOD AT ALL. Instead of me trying to relax and prepare for the run the next day, I have to go get my race kit. This made me wonder — WHAT ELSE COULD HAVE MADE THE REGISTRATION THAT EXPENSIVE??(Organizers’ pockets, perhaps?)
I-be-god-damn!! the route was CHANGED…and there was No info-blast about it prior to the race date. To add insult to injury, it was NEVER ANNOUNCED by the person holding the mic, instead he kept on saying “check the race map”…was he afraid participants will approach him with questions as to WHY????
That was not the LAST of the Disappointments:
—the gun start was DELAYED!!
—at the Bagong-Ilog bridge, the time-mat was just being laid such that some runners’ time were not recorded.
—no indicative means of the runners having gone through the route, like colored strings or so, hence easily can be cheated–one can cut his/her time and claim as a placer (remember, the 21kms was a 2-loop route, and by the second loop all category runners converged at the J.Vargas st. for sure, marshalls would have hard time pin-pointing who has done 2 loops and who has not)
—no ice bag (cold-compress)for those injured runners at the finish line
WTF?!?!? Was it Finishline’s (Vince Mendoza) very first organized fun-run? Well, it definitely WAS NOT a SMOOTH one.
