adiNation of Runners are ALL IN

June 30 was a big day for the adiNation of Runners (aNR).  After about two months of training, all the six teams from aNR Ayala Triads, aNR BHS Stormchasers, aNR Alabang SnailRunners, aNR Ortigas United, aNR UP Diliman Heartbreakers, and aNR Team MOA met at the SM Mall of Asia to test their limits in the different competitive events.

Each aNR Group wore their team colors as the program started with a message from Jason Gervasio of adidas Philippines. About 600 runners run the 5K course at SM Mall of Asia.  Powerade and Viva Mineral Water provided the hydration for the runners.  adidas Personal Care also participated in the run with their products.

First to start were the 5K Individual Runners.  Five men and five women from each group run against each other for the prize.  The teams’ top seeded runners gave their best to complete the 5K course around the SM Mall of Asia.

Each team fielded 10 of their top runners in the 5K category.  Who’s the fastest of them all?

Next to compete were the women’s and men’s relay.  Five runners from each team ran 1K each while passing the baton to the next runner.  As always, this event turned out to be very competitive and very noisy with all the cheers and encouragements from their team members.

And for the finale, no one expected an event carrying their team leaders will turn out to be the wackiest race for the year.  The two team leaders from each group gets a royal treatment as their members carry them towards the turn around point and back to the finish line.

It looks likes the Team Leaders have trained for this event as well.

The event was capped with the awarding of winners.  aNR Team  Heartbreakers (UP Diliman) bagged the top awards in all categories.  But all aNR members went home a winner with goody bags from adidas and sponsors.

The aNR is sort of a running club organized by adidas and Takbo.ph which were already launched in other countries like Japan, Singapore and Malaysia. The six areas in Metro Manila would meet on a weekly basis to run together.  Joining the aNR groups is free.  You can check out the schedules here.

All teams are now preparing for the upcoming adidas King of the Road 2012.  It will be another showdown among the best runners in the country.
