Nike Flyknit Racer is on TIME Magazine’s Best Inventions of the Year 2012
I am not surprised. The Nike Flyknit Racer is indeed one of the unique running shoes that came out this year. TIME Magazine named it as one of the Best Inventions of the Year 2012 together with 25 other inventions from self inflating tires to space suits.
The Nike Flyknit Racer is made of a single-layer upper material that eliminates overlays and reduces weight to make it an astonishing 160g (5.6 ounces). It also has the Dynamic Flywire technology for a customizable and adaptive fit through the laces.
Here’s what TIME Magazine says about this ground-breaking shoe.
By knitting thread into a single layer to fit around your foot—instead of cutting and sewing together multiple materials—engineers at Nike not only made this sneaker lighter (just 5.6 oz., or 160 g) but also gave it a precision fit: the weave alternately grips and gives despite the absence of liners or reinforcements. Plus, it’s eco-friendly, with less waste left on the factory floor.
I’ve seen this being sold at the Riovana store in BGC. You might want to check it out.
