IBTUR is an Ilocano term that means resilient, steadfast, unbreakable spirit, firm and strong. iRunners also have special meaning for the word IBTUR: iRunners Best Trail Ultimate Run, this means that IBTUR is bound to show that it is truly the best in terms of scenery, technicality in terms of difficulty, and organization and all!
IBTUR 88 will certainly provide the challenge that the runners are looking for. IBTUR will let them experience the ultimate running experience that will not only bring them to the ‘verge of breaking’ but will also bring them to runners-paradise because of the stunning beauty of the route. Indeed, the event is a perfect and a beautiful contrast: Route Hardship = 101 percent; Route Beauty = 102 percent! Necessarily so, the event will produce only the quality and proven runner-finishers that have withstood the harshest/toughest challenge and needless to say, they will be qualified to be named UNBREAKABLE or in llocano language, they deserved to be called NAIBTUR!

Good day to all of you my dear fellow runners and friends in the sport, yours truly is very glad to give you another exciting event, an event that will again give you ample of challenges and at the same time, will wow you (once more), give you goosebumps much like what we let you experience in the route of LUUM2 (or even more!). This event is a solo category event (88K only) with 3 age brackets (18 to 39, 40 to 55 and 55 and up)and we intend to award or separate the male from female except the 55 and up bracket. This event will be the best prep event or run esp for those planning to run 100+ Ultras in the next 7 to 10 months. I studied all the schedules of the Ultra Marathons in the next 7 to 10 months (BDM, TNF etc) and this event certainly the best option for you for at least five reasons: (1) level of difficulty, (2) distance, (3)elevation (as high as 2000 ft above sea level), (4)type of course and (5)type of environment. This is also the best Ultra event for the “sophomore ultra runners” or those who have run and conquered full marathons or basic ultras or 50Ks. I encourage and invite everyone, this is your event and opportunity to level up you game. FYI, 95% or the route is outback and not the usual highway used by most Ultra Marathon organizers – this means that the air is fresh, not polluted so to speak and the site is stunning.
I combine 6 wonderful northern towns of La Union and what i can only tell you is, that you be the judge as to the wonder and beauty that awaits you in the routes of IBTUR. One word which is close to the description of one of the feature of the route: ALPINE!
I know and admit that there are minor lapses in LUUM2 esp the time, i assure all of you that we will guard that setback and will provide all the needed measure so that that shortcoming won’t happen again. Isang category lang po ito, compare to LUUM2 that featured 6 categories, all i am saying is I WILL GIVE YOUR ACCURATE TIME may brown-out man o wala.
I am also seriously considering giving away a TROPHY for the finisher instead of a finisher ring if the majority of participants opted for the trophy. In case there is a trophy instead of Finisher Ring, we will charge P2500 as a registration fee because the trophy is very costly. And i will not give you a so and so trophy, i will give you the best trophy as a symbol of your great feat and achievement!
Ultimately, i am inviting everyone to join this Ultra Marathon for a valid and right reason. If you join this event you will get to assist in the construction of one functional library in La Union. This library will cater to the poor students of one Upland Barangay of La Union and your simple participation would mean so much for them because you will give the opportunity to gain more knowledge and better education.
All the activities involve in this event will be documented, including the 100 runners which will be accepted to run in this event, the sponsors and all, once the library is done, all of you will be given a report, and update, and simple acknowledgement of your contribution.
Like what i’ve said, this Ultra Marathon is not just a route that have to conquered,its totally more than that. I believe that it’s about time as a community (community of runner) that we think of a better way of sweating it out and breaking our personal best, its about time that we think of reaching-out, and contribute for other peoples lives – for real while we do the thing we all love doing!

Thanks Joel Ray i appreciate the suggestion. Like what i’ve posted, you can get the ring as well if you shell out another 500, so that you’ll end up getting the trophy and the ring.
What is additional 500 if we can get the finishers ring and trophy….di ba panalo ‘to nakatulong pa tayo..go! go! go!

Ultra runners, we have good news for you, the early bird registration for IBTUR 88 is extended up until tomorrow night (September 7, 2013), this is to accomodate the huge demands of ultra runners who would like to get 25% discount on registration fees. Pay only 1875 instead of 2500 if you are able to register up only until the 12PM tomorrow.

return trip to manila is on Nov 30 at 10PM tentatively depende sa bilis o bagal ng mga runner. pwede naman po na one way lang. its P500 for one way by the way.

IBTUR participants, just an update on shuttle: pick up time at Sta Lucia bus station in Espana is 6:30am due to the repair of roads in Pangasinan, the runners need to leave Manila early so that they can have plenty of time to rest and in time for the briefing by 4pm here in Final Option in San Juan La Union.
Date of travel is November 29, 2013, 6:30 am late runners will have to travel on their own. thank you!
