Wahoo Fitness Blue HR is the first heart rate monitor to use Bluetooth Smart and is compatible with the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, NEW iPod Touch (5th generation), iPad (3rd and 4th generations). The Wahoo Fitness Blue HR tracks your heart rate and calorie burn during workouts. You can use it whether you run, bike or other fitness activities.
What’s interesting with Wahoo Fitness Blue HR
Unlike other iPhone compatible heart rate monitors, Wahoo Blue HR doesn’t require a separate adaptor. Wahoo Blue HR uses Bluetooth to communicate data with the iPhone. Just turn on the Bluetooth in the iPhone settings and it will detect the Blue HR. As simple as that and you are ready to go.
Wahoo Fitness Blue HR can also be used with other fitness apps. While Wahoo has its own fitness app to track your heart rate, you are free to use other apps like MapMyFitness, Runkeeper and Runmeter. It can also export the data to Nike+, Runtastic, Endomondo and Strava. So, if you are already using other fitness apps, there is no need to start again from zero. Wahoo is generous to share and sync your data with over 50 different iPhone fitness apps.
Perhaps one of the innovation from Wahoo that I am interested in is the Burn and Burst zones for Heart Zone Training. It makes Heart Rate Based Training easier. It only tracks two zones instead of the usual four zones. The Wahoo Fitness App automatically measures these numbers for you.
The Burn Zone lets you become more aerobically efficient and increases aerobic base. To improve endurance and be able to run longer distances, this is the best zone to be. The Burst Zone, on the other hand, increases the body’s ability to buffer out lactic acid. This is the best zone to be when you train to become faster.
