Ten reasons why its worth to run in The North Face 2015 ultra-trail
I was introduce in the wonderful activity that is trail running about two months ago, and I loved it. This coming June 12-13, one of the most awaited ultra marathon-distance (up to 100 km) trail running event is set to challenge the toughest runners on the picturesque grounds of Nuvali in Tagaytay, Batangas- we are talking about The North Face 2015.
Aptly abbreviated as TNF 2015, the event is about to make history as Asia’s first Trail Running Ultra Marathon series. You got it right, there is bound to be more race legs this year. And just so you may be dilly-dallying on whether to go or not in one of the most exhilarating event before the summer season officially ends, here are ten reasons why you should not miss The North Face 2015 trail run:
-
The 1st Ultra Marathon Trail Running Event in Asia
When the 1st TNF 100 was launched seven years ago, it made history as the very first trail running event to have an ultra marathon distance (that’s more than the usual 42K). The concept has become so popular it even has its own global community, spanning in nine different countries, and is even dubbed as the “mother of all trail running events” because of sheer difficulty.
-
Breaking the boundaries of trail running
This year’s TNF 100 promises to measure the mental and physical toughness of all its participants as they go against the harshest terrains- from the sticky mud roads up to the rigid hills- all trails leads to the ultimate finish line.
-
Seeing the Taal Volcano in a different perspective
Sure you may have seen Taal Volcano in all its uniqueness (it’s actually a volcano inside…), during a trip with your family or barkadas, but this running event promises you a unique vantage point of this geological wonder from some of the previously unexplored areas surrounding its scenery. A definite must see.
-
Surprise landmarks from the 70’s
If you are curious what this land mark is and why it is dubbed as historical, we won’t tell you just yet. It is for you to find out, but you must at least make it to KM 16 along the fire roads to see for yourself.
-
Stories to live by
TNF promises to be a memorable event in your life- one that is worth mentioning to your friends either by actual conversation or through social media. Whether you are going to post it, blog it or tweet it, you surely would need to earn it- especially at KM 68 where you get to have Tagaytay’s wilderness as your selfie’s background.
-
Be close to nature
There is nothing more refreshing than a weekend well spent with Mother nature- the smell of the mountains, the green vegetation mixed with the rhythmically pounding of your heart- is one of the best experiences a trail runner can enjoy.
-
Run with the pros- Coach Aga and Gado
TNF also brings you two of the long running tandem of The North Face Athletes- Coach Gado and the blind runner Aga Casidsid. The pair will challenge themselves to conquer their first 100K trail run. Are you also up to the challenge?
-
Brandish your “Pinoy” pride
Filipinos have been known to be one of the most resilient races on the world. Even with the toughest calamities and problems, we endure and smile. TNF 100 presents the opportunity for us to raise our pride as we compete with other nationalities and prove that as Filipinos- we can conquer any heights or trails.
-
Track your race as you go
TNF 100 2015 is stepping up its game by bringing you an innovative way to track the your performance as you race using your mobile phone. You, your friends, supporters and family can now get real-time race updates as you conquer the trails.
-
Being a pioneer
Previous TNF 100 races were held in less accessible areas such as Nasugbu in Batangas, Clark in Pampanga, Camarines Sur and even in Baguio. Now its organizers have brought it closer to Metro Manila, to make it more accessible to the populace. One less excuse not to be- “one of the firsts.”
