Conquering Mt Daraitan with Merrell Capra

It was one Sunday early morning when we head out to Rizal with the Outdoor Trail Adventours. I’m excited as this is a first time for me to join a hike and to reach my first summit.

After the orientation, we are off to the trails and the goal is to reach the summit of Mt Daraitan. Mt. Daraitan is located in Rizal near the border of Quezon province.

The trail was not an easy one. With the trail difficulty rating of 4/10, the steep climb at the forest trails, with those sharp rocks were very challenging. Plus, it rained the previous days and the ground was wet. This is recommended for experienced hikers but our guides made sure we get to the top slowly but surely.

After 2 hours and 45 minutes we successfully reached the summit. We were tired but the view was worth it! We were rewarded with a magnificent view of the Sierra Madre mountain range and the province of Rizal.

We had a quick lunch, took as many pictures as we can and head down the trail for a swim at the Tinapak River. The river’s clean and literally, sparkling waters, with the majestic white rocks and cliffs that surrounds it, were great sights.

Trekking, like any other sport, needs the correct footwear for a safe and injury-free adventure. Even with the steep and wet trail, I have never slipped! I easily climb big boulders without sliding back.

The Capra has good grip. After all, it was inspired and named after the mountain goat (Capra), the nature’s ultimate climber.
