5 Things for Runners To Do on Valentine’s Day

It’s February and Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Aside from signing up for a race and running a race together, here are some things you can do with your special someone who also loves running. If you are single, these activities can also be a perfect bonding time with your running BFFs:

1. Watch a film about running

From documentaries about famed runners and major races, to films about individuals overcoming obstacles with a running subplot, there are quite a few movies that will get you more inspired to keep on running. Here are some favorites:

Spirit of the Marathon

The Loneliness of a Long Distance Runner

Chariots of Fire

Forrest Gump

2. Cook Healthy Meals

Preparing and cooking healthy meals does not have to be a complicated.  Cook a home made pasta, make granola bars or post run snack you can use for your next runs, bake chocolate chip banana bread or prepare multigrain chips and lentils you can snack on while watching a movie  (see #1).

3. Share and read a book about running

You can swap books or magazines with friends so you will have something inspirational to read if you want some alone time. Check out out some of our favorites here: Takbo.ph Running Book Reviews.

2. Volunteer as marshalls in a race

Experience what happens at the other side of the road.   Sign up as a volunteer in running events and see how events are being executed.

5. Take a “Rest” day

Consider taking the weekend off and do some other activity you used to enjoy like climbing a mountain, having a bike ride, do a walking tour in the city or go for a a day at the spa for a massage to relax those tired muscled and be pampered.
