Tips for a Safe Summer Workout
This is time when the weather is warm and we have longer days. Make the most of summer by transforming your activities to exercises.
Stay active and always remember these five tips for a safe summer workout:
1. Choose the Right Time
Pick the correct time for your exercise. You may opt to do your workout when temperature are cooler – either early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
Also avoid extreme temperature changes. Take your time to properly cool down after your workout.
2. Wear the Right Clothing
Go for loose, light-colored, and breathable clothes that prevents chafing and keep your body cool.
There are also clothing made of UV protective fabrics. These have been specially treated with colorless UV-absorbing dyes, and most offer an ultraviolet protection factor.

3. Hydrate Properly
Stay properly hydrated before, during and after your run or workout. This is critical to avoid heat related illness.

4. Protect your skin
Apply sunscreen generously, 15 minutes before heading out to get your skin protected.
According to webmd, it is much safer to apply sunscreen to the entire body before you get dressed instead of applying only to exposed skin if you are not wearing UV protective clothes.
5. Slow Down
This summer is not the perfect time to go beating your personal record. Training in heat is harder and takes a lot more out of you than training in the gym or cooler weather.
Don’t push yourself and take it slow. Listen to your body, safety comes first!

In addition to the tips above, I also choose routes that are a little windy and have a lot of trees.
My favourite route is Bayani Road and UP Diliman.
@JoggerNatz Thank Natz. Love all the trees in the Acad Oval!
