Gerald Anderson Finishes LA Marathon with Skechers GoRun Forza

Filipino actor Gerald Anderson accomplished one item on his bucket list as he finished the Los Angeles Marathon  last March 19 with a time of 4 hours, 25 minutes and 2 seconds.  The LA maarathon is one of the largest foot race in the world that draws close to 20,000 runners each year.

Gerald is the face of Skechers Performance’s Go Like Never Before campaign which dares everyone to outdo their best. The actor wore a pair of GOrun Forza, Skechers’ high mileage daily trainer with motion control arc support.

The Kapamilya star shared his marathon story in front of media personalities and blogger during a round table last weekend. He shared how he went through “the wall” phase and how he overcame almost quitting the race.

Overcoming the Marathon Wall

Gerald also jokingly remembers how he kept videoing the whole event until the 21K distance. But a few kilometers later and he began to feel the toll of running the long distance event.

Eventually, he hit the wall.

“Nagpre-pray ako, Lord, please get me there. Tapos kinausap ko yung legs ko, please, ‘wag ka muna bumigay,” says Gerald as he recounts his experience at the 35-kilometer mark.

What got him through all the exhaustion was the support he got from his family, his companions and the Filipino community.

On Finishing the LA Marathon

Gerald, who is also into traithlons, also commented about the unique trait of the running community. “Ibang klase iyong community, talagang nagtutulungan. Kahit naguunahan yung mga tao, nagtutulungan kami,” he said.

When he reached the finish line, Gerald proudly displayed the country’s colors.

“Proud ako sa sarili ko na natapos ko, and nakarating ako sa finish line. Ang layo pa ng tinakbo namin. It’s really amazing.”

The Kapamilya actor started training for the marathon since last year. However, his schedule intertwined with his filming for his upcoming soap opera “Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin,” where he plays as an athlete.

The upcoming teleserye marks his loveteam reunion with Kim Chiu. The show also stars Helen Gamboa, Colleen Garcia and Jake Cuenca.
