Reebok FloatRide Review
The new Reebok FloatRide has all the premium features you would love with a running shoe. It has the soft knit upper material and a very bouncy cushioning. It feels similar to the expensive brands but the Reebok FloatRide is more affordable.
The Reebok Float Ride was awarded as Runner’s World Best Debut. Runner’s World noted that it’s cushioning is at par with that of the Adidas Ultra Boost. I definitely agree to that.
Reebok FloatRide Features
- Floatride Foam technology provides soft and lightweight cushioning for a responsive feel
- Supportive EVA foam rim centers and balances your foot
- Supportive 3D heel cradle is produced by a bra manufacturer, specially contoured to help eliminate heel irritation
- Outsole tread rubber is engineered with a ripple design to provide consistent ground contact for a smooth transition from heel to toe
Reebok FloatRide Review
I have used the Reebok FloatRide for about 50KMs of running and several kilometers of walking.
The first thing that strikes me is its clean and stylish design. I love the blue and black colorway. It looks great for both running and casual wear. It’s not too bright and flashy. Just the right shade to make heads turn.
The next thing I love is the knitted upper material of the Reebok FloatRide. It has the same feel as the previous shoes I have worn from other brands like the Adidas Ultra Boost and the Nike LunarEpic. A knitted upper material is usually more comfortable, stretchy, and sock-like. It gives the Reebok FloatRide that premium feel.
Finally, the Floatride Foam technology provides that soft and lightweight cushioning. Most running shoe brands offer that bouncy effect for a high energy return. The Reebok FloatRide has that same bouncy and responsive feel. It is perfect for those long runs on concrete roads.
Some runners have mixed reviews with caged lacing and the soft heel cup. As for me, the caged lacing provided a good fit from the forefoot to the midfoot. I like how easy it is to loosen or tighten laces compared to having those small round eyelets in most shoes. The heel cup, however, gave me some chafing if worn without socks. While the heel cup was soft, the rubbing motion while running created a hotspot.
Reebok FloatRide Review Summary
Overall, the Reebok FloatRide is great for those long runs. I would definitely take them for a half-marathon to a marathon races. Since they are lightweight, they are perfect for those fast 5Ks and 10Ks as well. Runners would love the premium feel of the shoe especially the knitted upper. It definitely deserves the RW Best Debut award.
