Introducing the Adidas Ultraboost 20

Adidas has improved their iconic performance shoe to bring out the best of any runner who wears them. Drawing inspiration from the creation of space shuttles, the Ultraboost 20 was designed so that each part has a unique function that is beneficial to the runner.

The Primeknit upper was constructed with the latest  Tailored Fiber Placement (TFP) technology which lays down fibers to the millimeter. This revolutionary feature allowed Adidas to build a high performance, lightweight upper exactly calibrates foot support.

Consequently, Adidas has also optimized Boost midsole which is known for its high energy return.  The Boost technology allows effortless strides and returns it at toe-off to propel runners forward.

Adidas has also upgraded the 3D Heel Frame into a stripped-back design that cradles the heel and keeps it firmly in place. Furthermore, they also added the Stretchweb outsole and the Continental subber which gives maximum traction on all surfaces.

The adidas Ultraboost 20 will drop in a number of limited-edition colorways in the lead-up to the official global launch on December 6, 2019. It will retail for Php 9,500.

Adidas Partners with ISS U.S. Lab

Adidas partnered with the International Space Station (ISS) U.S. National Laboratory for further testing of the Ultraboost 20. The company also revealed its plans to send the Ultraboost 20 into space for astronauts to try it on.

“The revolutionary Ultraboost range has consistently pushed the boundaries of running shoe design since first launching, with each new release going one step further than its predecessors. In the adidas Ultraboost 20, we have lift-off again,” said Sam Handy, Vice President Design, adidas Running.

“The new silhouette has been carefully crafted to provide an unrivaled level of energy return for the wearer, combining our iconic Boost midsole with a Primeknit upper featuring Tailored Fiber Placement. This means the shoe responds to every step by propelling the runner forward. The design aesthetic of the new adidas Ultraboost 20 takes inspiration from our partnership with the ISS National Lab and, with more to come from the partnership, we plan on taking Boost to even greater heights,” he added.

In space, the scientists will study the Boost molding process without the distraction of Earth’s gravity, so adidas can unlock the future of boost. The objective is to leverage the findings at scale in Boost midsoles of the future. Adorned with an ISS U.S. National Laboratory space patch, the adidas Ultraboost 20 pays homage to this upcoming mission and as a symbol of the partners commitment to innovate.

Through its partnership with the ISS, adidas has gained deep insight into how astronauts, prepare for the physical and mental strain of living in space.
