The North Face Flight Vectiv Shoe Review

The North Face Flight Vectiv is a light, fast and responsive trail shoe as is the fastest, most responsive shoe in the Vectiv Collection. Here’s our take on this new carbon plated shoe from The North Face.

This is a trail shoe but unfortunately, I did not have a chance to run on a trail lately. So I run around the city trying every terrain I can find. Some flat surfaces. Uneven surfaces. Run up the stairs. And down. And up again.

The Flight Vectiv Features:

First is the upper material which is made of a seamless stretchable knit. But notice the different material used in the mid section of the shoe. This is an abrasion-resistant and super-durable Matryx® panel. This is to give a good fit and enhance the stability of the shoe.

Second is the 3D Vectiv Plate. There has been a lot of excitement in road shoes using carbon plates. Well finally, is it here and The North Face is the first to bring it to the trail. The 3D Vectiv Plate provides propulsion for that added push while running long distances.

Third is the Vectiv Rocker Midsole. It makes the shoe bend a little from the toes to the heel. The shape optimizes foot strike and forward momentum.

Lastly, the outsole is now uses the Surface CTRL Grip Outsole. This is a new high-traction outsole to give a good grip on any surface. Perfect for an trail conditions.

The Flight Vectiv Shoe Review:

I have the impression that trail shoes are big and heavy. But the Flight Vectiv is a lightweight shoe. It feels good even on the road. The outsole maybe a bit stiff when it is fresh from the box. But after a few break-in runs, it should feel more flexible.

I like the fit of the shoe. It is very secure especially at the heel. The toebox may be narrow. But the upper material is stretchable enough to make it comfortable.

The Vectiv technology used in the carbon plates, the cushioning, and the rocker shape geometry gives a smooth ride. It is not a bouncy type of shoe. It is firmer. So if you need a fast shoe the take to the trails, the Flight Vectiv will be your weapon of choice.
