More than a Watch: Huawei Watch 3 Features
The Huawei Watch 3 is a small device yet it is packed with features. The watch material is made of stainless steel and ceramic for a premium feel. It has 24/7 health monitoring capabilities and uses a more reliable GNSS for route tracking. The battery life can last up to 3 days of normal use or even up to 14 days with the ultra-long battery life mode. The Huawei Watch 3 also has the first-ever eSIM cellular calling technology – there’s definitely more to this smartwatch.

Premium Look and Feel
Huawei Watch 3 has the look and feel of a regular watch. The round screen is more familiar and intuitive. The case is made of stainless steel and ceramic for that feel and weight of a premium watch.
The 1.43 inch AMOLED screen is big and the display is crisp and bright. This is perfect for the wide selection of watch faces available. There are 30 built-in watch faces to choose from, plus more than 1,000+ designs available in the Huawei WatchFace store.
Many watch faces are animated which are fun to use and look at. With the hundreds of designs available, you can have a new watch face everyday.
Intuitive Controls
Since the Huawei Watch 3 is round, it feels like using a regular watch. It has a rotating crown and side button for easy control and navigation of the watch.
The rotating crown on the side is used for scrolling up and down the menus, options, and volume. The side button serves as a shortcut to the sports menu or as a select button. It makes the watch a lot simple to use.
The touch screen is very responsive. Together with the crown, it gives a smooth and intuitive user experience.
24/7 Health Monitoring
Huawei Watch 3 is rich in health monitoring features. It has a heart rate tracking, SpO2 sensor, stress monitoring and sleep tracking. These health monitors can provide all-day information right on the watch to keep you updated on your health condition.
But the Watch 3 doesn’t stop there. It added the new skin temperature sensor, a fall detection and SOS alert. The enhanced accelerometer can detect a hard fall that will activate an alert system to call for emergency assistance.
Sports Tracking
The Huawei Watch 3 comes with 19 pro-modes for indoor and outdoor sports. Among them are running, cycling, walking, swimming, triathlon, hiking, skiing and rowing. Plus there are 85 more custom modes.
The watch uses a multimode GNSS location sensor for accurate and superior outdoor tracking. GNSS uses navigational satellites from other networks other than the GPS system. More satellites means better accuracy and reliability.
The Watch 3 also features running courses that you can choose from. There’s an option from beginners to more advanced LSD runs. These running courses will guide you from start to finish.
eSIM Cellular Calling technology
It looks like a scifi movie but with the eSIM technology, the Huawei Watch 3 allows you to receive and create calls and messages on the watch itself. Now you can simply leave your phone at home when you go out to run, bike or swim. With the eSIM technology, your watch becomes your phone to make sure you wont miss important calls or messages.
The eSIM still needs to be activated by the mobile carrier. Check with Globe or Smart website for their accredited branches where you can activate and start using the eSIM.
Battery Life
The problem with feature rich smartwatches is battery life. The more features, the more power it needs. Fortunately, the Huawei Watch 3 can last up to 3 days of regular use. This includes the health sensors and Bluetooth connection to phone enable.
In Ultra-long battery life mode, the watch can last up to 14 days. But I don’t think I will be using the watch this way. I’d missed the best features the watch has to offer.
Phone Alerts and Notifications
Once connected to a smartphone, you get call and message notifications on the watch. Notifications also can be from the calendar, tasks, music app, workout, timer, stopwatch, and a lot more.
You can even answer a call right on the watch. The watch has a built-in mic and speaker that can be used to make and take calls. No need to pick up the phone.
Huawei Watch + Phone
If you are using a Huawei phone, then you can further maximize the features of the Watch 3.
You can use the Watch 3 with Celia, the Huawei Personal Voice Assistant. You can get connected with the MeeTime right on the watch. You can control music and synchronize playlists. And you can control your phone camera with the Watch 3 as well.
If your watch is running out of battery, you can even use your Huawei phone to reverse charge your Watch 3.
