Milo Launches Barangay Liga to Support Young Athletes

MILO® launched its Barangay Liga in Imus, Cavite, on April 29, aimed at empowering young athletes and providing a platform for skill development, confidence building, and sportsmanship. The event took place at the Alapan II-A Covered Court and was organized in partnership with regional Department of Education offices.

Basketball Activities and Participating Schools

Students from Alapan II-A Elementary School, St. Edward School Lancaster Imus, Hipolito Sakilayan School, and Mary Calkins Integrated School participated in the basketball activities, which included passing, dribbling, and shooting drills under the guidance of local coaches.

Parental Support and Building Self-Confidence

Lovely, a mother who attended the event with her 12-year-old son Vince Matthew, emphasized the importance of parental support in fostering self-confidence and discipline in their children’s chosen sports. Vince cited his uncles as his inspiration for developing his basketball skills.

“For me, importante bilang magulang na suportahan natin ang sports na napili ng anak natin kasi papasok doon ang self confidence nila … disiplina, dahil may coach silang papakinggan,” she said.

MILO’s Commitment to Supporting Young Athletes

Carlo Sampan, Head of MILO Sports, reiterated MILO’s dedication to supporting Filipino youth in sports, expressing the company’s commitment to projects that promote physical literacy. The MILO Sports Clinics Program aims to nurture children’s champion journeys in various sports.

“We know that Filipinos love basketball kaya sumusuporta tayo sa mga proyekto ng SK at ng mga LGU para naman pataasin ang physical literacy ng ating mga kabataan,” he said.
