Last March, Kenny Roger's and Takbo.ph had a Carboloading Party for the runners. It was the first time several runners gathered together in a non-racing event. This coming August 15, Kenny Roger's, in partnership with Takbo.ph, will gather the runners again to promote a healthy lifestyle. This time, it will be a racing event: The Kenny's Open '09 Urbanite Run.

This will not be the usual Sunday morning races. First, it will be on a Saturday. Second, it will be held at night. So you get to have glow in the dark race paraphernalias. Call time is 8:00pm. Third, runners can stay after the race with a concert by Tribo Manila and chicken roast available at discounted price. And lastly, we were told that the Dare Duo, Marc and Rovilson, will be there.

Registration will start July 15 until August 11. Registration Fee is 600 Php, and you get the Urbanite Meal, your donation to the selected beneficiary, and race registration. This includes the disposable timing chip as well. More info on the registration process, you can download the race mechanics here.

The event continues to assert Kenny Roger's goal in promoting a healthy lifestyle through food and nutrition. More than their famous roast chicken, they offer a wide range of healthy options in their menu for you to eat well, look good and live well.

That is why, the Kenny Rogers Urbanite Run has identified Hands On Manila (HOM) as one of the beneficiaries. It will support HOM's projects related to health & nutrition, sports & recreation, education and other social services for kids and teens.

One of the health and nutrition projects of HOM is the Breakfast Club where street kids are treated for breakfast by the volunteers. I love this program and even organized it twice with our church's youth ministry. The latest was just last Sunday. While I was a volunteer at the Botak Aid Station, Quennie was leading the Breakfast Club with the volunteers.

Nice event! At last, a night run. I always run at night anyway.

Why is the start of the longer distances later? Should it be the other way around?

I tried the instructions on the form, there isn't an events tab on www.kennys.com.ph.

Great poster! Or is it just its Marc on it? :) Great beneficiary, too. Hands on Manila is a foundation that links different foundations, causes and volunteers just to be able to help marginalized communities. Volunteer na rin!:)

Im so excited. Thanks Jinoe best race ever. why i like the night run its something different and my time is faster cause in the evening my legs are more flexible. my wife and i will join. i will volunteer to guard your parked cars! Anybody who wants to join my group? We have to do something about these thefts & robberies happening during road races. Remember, this is a night race! If these people could rob us during daytime, how much more during night time!!!

HI BR, Just spoke to KR re your concern last night. They will augment security on top of the security that BHS will be providing. The additional 4 security that was mentioned last night is insufficient. I also suggested that they tap PNP. Rest assured that the management is working on your concern. Thanks for your inputs.

FYI:

The registration fee allows you to eat for free at Kenny Rogers. There will be a special meal that will be prepared.

There will be a singlet as well.

No Medals.

bingo! its a night race as predicted and it feels good to know that it will be held on a saturday night which is not the common race event schedule.

and best of all runners do not have to wake up early to join.

The meal is free. The logistics doubles. It is harder to organize a night race. Besides, this comes with a timing chips.

granted that this night race event is for a good cause and comes with a free meal, timing chip, accident insurance, etcetera, i hope that the singlet will be something worth wearing (great logo design, large size option) and keeping (adidas-like material, fade-resistant color) considering the pricey registration fee.

since the 5K starts at 8:30 and the 15K starts at 9:00, this can be a 20K run! will there be a discount if we do 2 distances?

wow parang last november night run to ah na hindi ko nasalihan. sana makasali na ko kung ok ang sched.

sir jovie mag disguise kau baka kilala kau nung thieves. goodluck sana mahuli na yan.

car owners parang much safer kung dun na kau magpark sa market market. roving ang guards nila. warm up na lang papunta bhs.
