Newton Gravity Trainers: In for Review |
|
Just got my Newton Gravity Trainers last Friday. This was my raffle prize from the Runnr Grand Opening last July 10. I still have to test them and provide my review. Although I believe you have read a few of them already, so I just might talk how these shoes will train me to run midfoot instead of landing on the heels.
Here are my first impressions on the Newtons.
- They are intimidating. Ok, so they have the
reputation of making your run faster and more efficient but only if you
are a midfoot/forefoot striker. I have seen my other shoes and there
are strong wear pattern at the heels. Those are my old shoes and I
admit to consciously land on heels until I read about midfoot
striking. Then after using Mizuno Ronin Racers,
I tend to land more consciously on the midfoot and reduced the wear
pattern at the heels. If you wish to get these shoes, it will take
some time to get used to them.
- It will be a learning experience.
The Newton Gravity Racers comes with Newton's 10 Laws of Better Running
in the box. It is sort of a guide on how to maximize the benefits of
shoes. It introduces you to the Land-Lever-Lift technique, tells you
to have gradual mileage on the shoe, adapt slowly and provides you an
online link to more tips and videos. I thougt I had enough of Sir
Isaac Newton in college but here I am again learning about his laws and
applying them to real life. Learn more about the shoes at http://www.newtonrunning.com/.
- Poor workmanship.
It surprised me that the shoes that costs 8,000+ is not neatly
crafted. There are slight problems in the way they are made. Seems to
be minor and more of the aesthetics only and I hope they do not affect
the actual performance of the shoe. Imitation shoes at Divisoria can
easily do better when it comes to aesthetics. Should I return it?
Well, this was a replacement shoe already. The first one had problems
with the stitches.
I'll be putting them on the road and talk more about the shoes in the
coming weeks. I'm excited to learn what these shoes will teach me.
Newtons shoes are available at Runnr Store, Bldg B3 Bonifacio High Street, Taguig. Visit their website at www.runnr.com.ph.
